Smart?

Whilst sitting at the computer attempting to work up a blog post, Mrs. W is sitting across the room with her "smart phone."  I hear

"Say again.  I did not understand."  A few seconds, then

"Say again.  I did not understand."  Then Mrs. W's voice

"Shut yourself off.  I don't want to talk to you now."

"Goodbye."

The woman is not only talking to a device, she is having a conversation with the blinking thing.

Oh, dear.  Perhaps this responsive thing is the reason she is recently paying more attention to it than she is to me?

That is funny - my iPad talks to me - I hate that. I've been yelling, um, er, talking to computers for years, they never talked back, which was a good thing - for them. Now that they do talk back - still not a good thing because they still aren't doing what I tell them to. No one EVER listens to me...

Grace, thank you. That is the best laugh so far today. (And talking machinery is not my thing, either.)

I just can't do "talking" things. They never work for me and then I feel like a damn fool

Lin, stuck in the wilderness a week or two ago, I commented on a blogpost by "dictating" the message to Jo's smartphone. Needed two or three corrections, but not bad. Persevere!

After observing the "relationship" that others have with their smart devices, I've decided that I don't need that kind of a dependency.

Chuck, seems to me there things are as addictive as, well, tobacco or alcohol. Smart for me to avoid all three.
