The Struggle is Real: Depression

Depression is a state of numbness to the world.

Scripture lesson 1 Corinthians 10:12-14.
"So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry."

The Joy of the Lord.
The joy of the Lord is my strength; do not confuse it with "happiness."
The joy of the Lord is Peace in God.

We may not know why we are going through our trial, but we know that God is our Strength; peace, joy, holiness pull us out of the pit!

Dealing with the problem.
     
     1.  Rewire your mind.
          Get away from the thing that is taking you away from God.  "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."  --Philippians 4:8,9

     2.  Rearrange your environment.
          E.g., if you are isolating yourself via social media, then . . .  If you are seeking solutions that are caused by the environment, you need to get out of the environment.
"Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character.”'  --I Corinthians  15:33

     3.  Rely on God.
          When we put our hope in the Power greater than ourselves, miracles happen.
          "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.The Lord is close to the brokenheartedand saves those who are crushed in spirit."  --Psalm 34:17,18


Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God. 
--Psalm 43:5
