More "New" TV

So I passed on a "White Collar" rerun in favor of the new Michael J. Fox Show because I have liked Fox for many years, enjoyed his work, and admire his handling of his illness.

They should have called it the "Alex P. Keaton Show" and brought Fox back as an ultra-conservative yet powerful politician in today's going-to-hell-in-a-handbasket politically correct EC liberal milieu.

But, ho-hum, it is an attempt at a sit-com fraught with political correctness in its own right.  Sit-com.  No, I personally couldn't sit through the first half hour.

Back to reruns and old movies this season, it seems.

We recorded it, haven't watched it yet. Reviewers said the 1st 1/2 hour was an extended advertisement for other shows on that network...fast forward is my best friend!

Also on the DVR is The Big Bang Theory, The Crazy Ones (with Robin Williams) and Elementary - big TV night!

I'd already planned to give it a miss. I'm thinking about Netflix, but TCM is in my basic TV package. Hhmmm . . .

Grace, perhaps we'll all do more reading, less watching this season?

Chuck, good choice. A relative suggested netflix to me, but I fear with my addictive personality I might wind up doing nothing but watching movies. TV I can skip.

Netflix has crap movies and dvd's are a separate charge from streaming but it does have the most wonderful British tv shows, available on streaming. There is so little we are interested in on regular tv, and Netflix has nothing new of interest to us either, that we are re-watching the British tv series that we were delighted by when we first got Netflix. Midsomer Murders - one of the best. And we have discovered, having first watched the series 3 years ago, we vaguely remember the details but can never remember 'whodunnit'.

Grace, my favorites from the Brits are As Time Goes By; Keeping Up Appearances; and in a different genre Ballykissangel. Imagine my annoyance when they ended that by killing off the heroine. Oh, yes. Death, too, is part of life.

My husband is devoted to As Time Goes By. I personally CANNOT abide Hyacinth. Did you ever watch Waiting for God? Diana and Tom are so me and George (now that I think of it). Netflix has some great Brit tv shows that never appeared on US television...plus most of the ones that did.

Grace, Hyacinth was pretty nerve-wracking. I have seen Waiting for God. So that is you and George? *grin*
