1950s:  Never hire anything done that you can do for yourself.

2000s:  Never do anything yourself that you can hire someone to do.

I think the secret in that post isn't the year in which you discovered that, but how old you were at the time. Joe and I used to do all of our home improvements by ourselves because we didn't have money, but we had spunk and energy and muscles. Now....well....we've got 2 or 3 bucks to have someone else's spunk and energy and muscles do it for us.

Lin, I think the only problem I have with it is that I have a '50s mindset, but I'm living in the 21st century.

Chuck, no longer possessing the energy or agility of my younger day, I find it more and more frequent that I have to turn a task over to someone else.
