Keep a civil tongue in your head.

We often give grace to idiots simply by keeping our mouths shut and moving on with our life.  This is as it should be, for our judgmental "idiots" may be totally off-base; we've no idea what they have been through today.  And how often might we be in need of the same grace when viewed by others?

If you've nothing nice to say, say nothing.

To follow this advice could contribute greatly to civility in our land.

Sometimes, when I'm feeling out of sorts...I am that idiot. Just feeling like I need to address things that really have no effect on me. I must remember to keep that in check...especially when my filter is at its lowest level. I suppose the other "idiots" are doing the same???

Lin, I am working on more frequent application of my own advice here. I have come to the realization that others doubtless see me as the "idiot" sometimes. I hate that, but still suspect it is true.
