Chicken House

Suppose the rooster spends his days and half his nights plucking the feathers from his hens, pecking them mercilessly whilst he ignores the fox that came in through the knothole in the wall.

C'est plus change...

Just reading around here and there during my too frequent idle moments:

"Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it." --MT
I think about this often, especially during an election cycle.

"[He] was endowed with a stupidity which by the least little stretch would go around the globe four times and tie." --MT
Does this bring anyone in particular to mind?  Well, no one with whom I am personally acquainted.

Come back in 3216: Same old, same old.

I know it is tradition back to time immemorial, but why, oh, why do we continue to countenance the "purchasing" of politicians via big money interests?

Oh, I get it.  The politicians who are bought are the same people who make the laws.

Then, too, there is the entertainment of the occasional court challenge to someone stepping over some imaginary line.

Lunch with the President, and the President, and the President

Just heard a report on today's luncheon in the White House where the Obamas will be hosting both former Presidents Bush and their spouses.  "It is closed to the press," said the commentator, "but wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall?"

Well, no, actually not.  I've seen President Obama's hand-swipe.
